Duwamish Medieval Village Site Walk (Shelly Smith, 2025)

This map outlines the walk that I did, retracing some of the Duwamish medieval village sites near the present-day longhouse and cultural center. My walk traces an invisible line on what was the site of a long standing Duwamish Village and Potlatch Lodge. The Duwamish people have lived at this site intermittently since 600 CE. The last standing village was destroyed by intentional arson in 1893. The land the Duwamish previously lived on is now mostly controlled by the Port of Seattle and Seattle city and is heavily industrialized.
